In the Islamic dogma, a point is recognized by all of the currents of Islam and yet raises questions among both Christians and Muslims: it is the return of Jesus at the End Times, in miraculous ways and the struggle he led against the Antichrist. While most Westerners are ignorant of the fact that Muslims recognize Jesus as a Prophet sent by God, it may seem even more amazing to them that this eschatological event, known in Christian belief as “Parousia”, also exists in Islam.
If Jesus is an ordinary Prophet among a multitude of messengers, as stated by the Qur’an, why is this particularly uplifting mission entrusted by God to him and not to other prophets? Here, the author responds to this issue by delivering a theological-historical analysis on this subject.
More than an exercise in casuistry, this test allows giving an Islamic lighting to the contemporary history, a better understanding of the development of the “Judeo-Christian” West and reveals, through the singular figure of Jesus, some of the most essential teachings of Islam.
